| Z okazji 200. rocznicy premiery w Rzymie, w rzymskim Teatro dell'Opera wystawiono przedstawienie Emmy Dante w najwyższej klasy obsadzie.
Po raz pierwszy "Kopciuszek" Rossiniego został wykonany 25 stycznia 1817 roku w Teatro Valle w Rzymie, niespełna rok po premierze jego opery "Cyrulik sewilski", która okazała się sensacyjnym sukcesem nawet dla Rossiniego. "Cenerentola" powtórzyła ten sukces i szybko rozprzestrzeniła się we Włoszech, a wkrótce także w całej Europie. Już za życia Rossiniego, oprócz oryginalnej wersji włoskiej, odbyły się występy w języku angielskim, francuskim, niemieckim, rosyjskim, polskim i czeskim./d

| W 2018 roku Złota Galeria Centralnego Banku Francji, a ściślej jej renowacja w stylu XVIII wieku przez hrabiego Tuluzy, obchodziła swoje trzechsetlecie. Podobnie jak Sala Lustrzana w Wersalu, zaliczana jest do najbardziej wystawnych galerii ceremonialnych we Francji - właśnie w tym niesamowitym otoczeniu nakręcono kilka scen filmu "Maria Antoinina" Sofii Coppoli.
Z tej okazji zespół barokowy Concert de la Loge i jego dyrektor muzyczny Julien Chauvin czerpali z tego niesamowitego otoczenia, jego obrazów i rzeźb, ale także z historii, i zebrali różne utwory z repertuaru barokowego i klasycznego Lully, Rameau, Couperina, Boccheriniego, Charpentiera, Vivaldiego, Bacha, Haydna, Mozarta, Handela.
Dzięki rozbudowanej scenografii i inteligentnemu projektowi oświetlenia występ artystów jest także podróżą przez tajemnice prac wizualnych wyświetlanych w galerii: na przykład alegorie - młody Ludwik XIV na początku swego panowania, historia Henryka IV ... wszystko to wyjaśniono szczegółowo w pięknej książeczce napisanej przez specjalistów sztuki./d

| Bel Air present the hard-hitting new production of Kurt Weill's Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny by Catalan collective, La Fura dels Baus, from the Teatro Real de Madrid. Composed in the 1930s by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht, this is a mordant satire on capitalism in a society in which the ultimate crime is not having money. In 20 scenes the authors tell the story of a city lost in the middle of a desert and run by three thugs; in Mahagonny food, sex, gambling and violence rule supreme.
The production, by Alex Ollé and Carlus Padrissa of La Fura dels Baus, combines enormous inventiveness, joy and energy with awe-inspiring ferocity.
Perfect casting brings together a group of singers - Measha Brueggergosman, Michael König, Jane Henschel and Willard White - who are also marvellous actors. The Teatro Real Orchestra and Chorus are directed by young Spanish conductor Pablo Heras-Casado, who received the "El Ojo Crítico" prize in 2010, awarded annually to Spain's most outstanding artists.

| The unforgettable 'masterful use of light and silhouettes'(Milano Post) with which Giorgio Strehler interpreted the charm of Mozarts Singspiel was conceived for the Salzburg Festival, where it was staged in 1965 under the baton of then 29 year old Zubin Mehta, and then regularly revived at La Scala from 1972 onwards. At twenty years since the death of the great director, who from 1951 staged some by-now legendary operas at La Scala, Teatro alla Scala proposed anew this celebrated staging and called to the podium the man who conducted it the first time Zubin Mehta. 'Extraordinary, a wonder ' (Corriere Della Sera). The stage set with magnificent palace architecture and a sea view at centre is a veritable feast for the eyes, which is equally true for the elaborately and lovingly designed costumes. The viewer feels like hes being transported into the oriental aura. The fact that the current performance is conducted by Maestro Zubin Mehta, now over 80 years old, builds a bridge to Strehlers Salzburg production, which dates back more than half a century, and at the same time provides a touching detail of this timelessly monumental performance.

One of the most popular of all operas, the 2018/2019 season featured 151 productions of La traviata performed worldwide. Verdi's sublime score contains some of his most inspired arias and duets. Ermonela Jaho stars as Violetta, opposite Charles Castronovo as Alfredo, with Plácido Domingo as his unyielding father in Richard Eyres classic production, featuring stunning naturalistic designs by Bob Crowley.

| Recorded at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Offenbachs birth, Un mari a la porte (A Husband at the Door) is a one-act operetta premiered in 1859. This rarely performed work is a most amusing comedy of errors that mocks the quirks and vices of French society of that period. The action takes place in Susannes bedroom, on her wedding night. While alone, the bride realises that theres a man hidden under the bed. Florestan Ducroquet is a young and penniless musician who had broken into the room falling from the chimney, while escaping from the fury of a jealous husband. He manages to escape via the window, seconds after having proposed to Rosita. This carefree play of allusions and misunderstandings is accompanied by the brilliant music of Offenbach with its characteristic use of the polka, mazurka and waltz.

'A Brahms revelation' was the headline in the New Yorker, for the Zeit its 'a reference recording' and the Hamburger Abendblatt wrote 'the greatest experts of Brahms come from Bremen (die besten Brahms Versteher kommen aus Bremen)'. The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen perform Brahms nowadays exactly to the size that the composer himself was accustomed to at the time. This interpretation puts Brahms' symphonies in a new light, which is explored in the additional documentary through the eyes of the musicians and their artistic director Paavo Järvi.

| Kurt Weill wrote Street Scene shortly after fleeing Nazi Germany to the United States. When he discovered the vitality of the American musical scene, his focus became to reconcile the Broadway musical with European traditional opera, jazzy and North-American tunes with an almost Puccinian-like lyricism. In his mind, opera had to embrace and reclaim its own theatricality: thus he wrote his Street Scene, meant to be a truly American opera, half-way between his Brechtian Threepennys Opera and Bernsteins later West Side Story and drawing from the famous play by Elmer Rice (recipient of the Pulitzer Price when it was published in 1928). Under Tim Murrays vivid and precise baton, this superb production by John Fulljames perfectly renders the vitality and energy released by the streets of New York that proved to be a great inspiration to the theatrical mind of the composer. |
